In the market, short sleeve sweatshirts usually retail for about twenty five dollars but you don’t have to spend that much to enjoy the trend. If you already own a sweatshirt that you are not able to wear because the cuff is frayed, you won’t have a problem with having new a new garment while recycling your old clothes.

Here are some easy steps into achieving one that does not look home made.

Prepare your Materials

First of all you need to gather all the things that you need in doing the process. You need to have your sweatshirt apparel, a sewing kit, a sewing machine, scissors, and a tailor’s chalk.

Procedure

The best way to measure the sleeves is to best to mark it while wearing the sweatshirt garment. This will make you have the perfect short sleeve (either over the elbow or below) that you would want to wear your sweatshirt. All you have to do is to mark it with the tailor’s chalk. After that, you just have to lay it flat on the table and measure one inch lower than your desired length. Put a straight line on it with a ruler. It will make the hem of your sleeve straight upon cutting it.

There might be mistakes in the hemming of the sleeves so make sure to cut a bit lower in the line. After cutting it you have to turn the sweatshirt garment inside out. Fold the one inch allowance that you thought the straight line and hand stitch your hem. Remember to stitch it loosely and with bog gaps because you eventually have to remove it. This is an important thing to do before running it inside the sewing machine because it will make it look cleaner and more professional. After that you can to sew, it with the sewing machine. Remember to remove the hand stitched thread and after sewing. You can remove the mark from the tailor’s chalk through washing and ironing the sweatshirt apparel.
